At Department of Nuclear Physics, University of Science, VNU-HCMC, an Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis system (INAA) with an neutron source of Am-Be was equipped in 1994. Samples are irradiated by neutron to change stable isotopes into radioactive isotopes through nuclear reactions. Gamma-ray energy and the net peak of each radioactive isotope are measured by NaI(Tl) scintillation detector or HPGe detector.
Illustrated figures and results
Neutron activation system, shown in Fig.1, includes two channels (thermal neutron and fast neutron) used to irradiated sample. After irradiation, the sample was measured by gamma ray spectroscopy with HPGe detector, shown in Fig.2. Gamma spectrum was recorded and analyzed by Genie 2K software, shown in Fig.3.
