Scholarships in Canada for Southeast Asian Visiting Students:
Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED)
Global Affairs Canada will be offering approximately 125 scholarships in 2022-23 to students from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for short-term study or research. The Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program aims to reduce poverty in the developing countries of ASEAN and to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Scholarships and educational exchanges will contribute towards the achievement of all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Student Eligibility: Students must be citizens of an ASEAN member state (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam); and, be enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country and paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the full duration of the exchange.
Duration in Canada: 4 to 8 months at the undergraduate level; 4 to 6 months at the graduate level. SEED scholarship awardees may commence their study/research at USask as early as September 1, 2022 but no later than February 1, 2023.
Scholarship Value:
- CAD 10,200 for undergraduate or graduate students (Master's and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research;
- CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master's and PhD) for a period of five to six months of research; or
- CAD 15,900 for undergraduate students for a period of eight months or two academic terms of study.

Undergraduate student applications: The International Student and Study Abroad Centre (ISSAC) will coordinate all undergraduate SEED applications based on existing inter-institutional student exchange agreements. Graduate student applications: The International Office (IO) will coordinate all graduate SEED applications and an inter-institutional agreement is desirable but not mandatory. For faculty members who have connections in ASEAN countries, please distribute SEED scholarship information and work with your partners to identify applicants. Once the matching is confirmed, the enclosed SEED graduate application form and supporting documents are required to be completed/obtained before February 18, 2022.
